Parabens are a group of chemicals widely used as artificial preservatives in cosmetic and body care products… Since cosmetics contain ingredients that can biodegrade, these chemicals are added to prevent and reduce the growth of harmful bacteria and mold, increasing the shelf life of the product… scientific studies suggest that parabens can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer… Moreover, studies have detected parabens in nearly all urine samples taken from adults in the U.S., regardless of demographic (Ye 2006). Interesting, right? Putting on your favorite lotion might not be as harmless or pleasurable to body as it seems. Many of the studies link parabens to complications with the core essence of being a woman and so for me, it is safe to say that parabens are not safe!
Start by eliminating the Top 4 Most Hazardous Parabens:
1. Isobutylparaben
2. Isopropylparaben
3. Propylparaben - very common
4. Butylparaben
